Classic Car parts Classic Chevelle, Classic El Camino, and Classic Mustang DefinitionsClassic Car Parts Co.Classic Car Parts Definitions (well really Terms) Terms are useful things, and depending on where you look they
are like opinions; everyone has one. My terms are from some of the books,
catalogs, and magazines I have lying around, and they agree on most of what I am
trying to say. Stock When I speak of stock, I am expressing the opinion that the car
has a minimum of modification. Any parts (interior, exterior, or power train)
have been replaced with like - original parts. Shocks, the car has regular
shocks not heavy duty or air assist shocks. Restoration is the process of taking a car and returning it to
as close to factory specifications as possible, increasing the value of said
vehicle. Some people modify the car when they do the restoration. Ok they are
doing the work and footing the bills, so why not make thier car look better than
the other guys? But check the article on collecting before getting carried away
with the modifications if you plan on showing the car. Repair is not restoration, it is replacing parts to make the car
drivable and hopefully safe. May be your car only requires a brake job or new shocks.
Repair is good. This one is my favorite. Consider this: ever see a Corvette that
had a Cowl Induction hood and a 305 under it? How about a Jaguar X KE with a
2000cc engine with only one carb? Didn't think so. But you will see a whole
bunch of Chevelle's with SS emblems, check the
Body Number
Plate, bet they are not an original SS but a Chevelle that someone put the
emblems on it. According to my insurance company, an antique is any vehicle over 50 years old. Any younger is considered a Classic. Side note on Antique and Classic for insurance; so we have a few
years yet. The insurance for an Antique will on average cost you as much as a
brand new car, where as with a Classic if you shop around it can be a very
affordable. In fact, if you get Classic Car Insurance you can get it for less than
just regular liability insurance. You have to consider how much you drive the
car for the best value in insurance.
Thanks for visiting Classic Car Parts, I hope you find what you are looking for!
